Explore the Asus EeePC
Introduced by Jonney Shih, Chairman and CEO of ASUS at Intel's Keynote Address The first day of the fair, the Eee PC has already made the headlines world wide.

Ships Version Asus with 512MB of RAM as standard, though other resellers such as RM offer versions with 256MB of RAM. If you intend to tinker heavily with the machine or install Windows, we recommend getting the 512MB model.
One of the main points of the vending machine is the fact that it uses a solid state hard drive (SSD). The largest supply Asus model is 4GB, 33 per cent of which is already in use when you buy the machine .* Again, some manufacturers offer an SSD and 2GB card can connect a large memory to SD card slot for extra storage.
In the left pane of the Eee PC, the notebook has two USB 2.0 ports, an audio and microphone port, a 10/100 Ethernet port and a 56K modem port phone. To show how thin the Eee PC, I used a coin NT $ 10, which is similar in size to a half dollar of the United States. As you can see, the Eee PC is very thin.
The right side panel of the Eee PC 701 is two USB 2.0 ports, one VGA, and even a flash card reader. The notebook uses a 4-cell battery that gives around 3 hours of battery life when in motion. As you may have noticed, no optical drives included with the Eee PC, and there is room to add any to the notebook itself, so any DVD burners will be installed on the outside through one of the Eee PC 701, four USB 2.0 ports.
The Eee PC does not use Microsoft operating system, part of the reason it is so cheap. Graphical user interface instead, Asus supplies its own Linux-based. The laptop also includes about 40 applications, which is possibly more than they could get with a standard Windows laptop. It includes Firefox for browsing the Web, Skype, OpenOffice and SMPlayer for video playback.
Obviously, being a Linux machine, users can download any number of software open source – you always fit into the hard drive. The Eee PC is theoretically fast enough to run Windows XP, which is great news for those of us without beards.
It's hard to fault the Eee PC, mainly because of its price. It can be difficult to use because the cramped keyboard, but it's better than similarly sized as the Toshiba Libretto laptops. If you're in the market for a second PC, or looking for something that can take you almost anywhere, the Eee PC is definitely worth the worth buying.
