TiVo or Media Center?

With current technology, the recorder is rapidly becoming obsolete. Just take a look at electronic stores, usually find a very small selection of basic VCRs and more from a selection of DVD players and TiVos.

Each has instead, but today I am talking about TiVo and Windows Media Center. These two each allow you to record and watch TV, but there are some definite differences.

Wonder of both programs is that you can record and watch a program at the same time. If you have dual tuners that may even be able to watch one channel while recording another. Everything depends on the configuration.

Of course, one of the favorite features of each program is the ability to fast forward through commercials. This knocks not much time watching television, which is simply wonderful.

TiVo is designed for watching TV while Media Center is a program added to a computer that is designed for much more. That is best for you depends on your needs.

I personally prefer the interface TiVos. In use I seem to be more intuitive and better targeted to a television screen. In particular, I find it easier to establish priorities for TiVo – which may be important When you choose automatically between overlapping programs.

Media Center can be used only on the computer or you can get things to work on television. I did not test version of Vista Media Center, which understand the improvements have been made. It's not easy dealing with an interface program that runs on both a large TV screen or in a small window on a computer.

This difference is where many of the problems with Media Center Buttons have tended to come in absurdly can look great on TV, but very good size on a computer.

A small feature I love about TiVo is the reaction time when rewind or fast forward. But come back a little so you can get to play when you know you're at the end of the commercials. The step back is just about perfect to put on exactly when the show started back up the commercials.

In each case, you may decide to record a complete series. You may even decide if you want all the episodes recorded or only new. This is really wonderful for those times when you miss your favorite show is playing on a different day than usual. This function can not do anything about those times when a program moves unexpectedly, but for regular scheduled changes is wonderful.

You love or hate TiVo habit of recording shows that he thinks you might like. These are removed before the programs you chose to record are deleted, but the function units of some people nuts. Fortunately, if you hate the feature can be disabled.

Pricewise, The more you depend on what you buy. Media Center comes as part of a team and is more expensive if you do not want it as a computer. TiVo generally costs much less. But Media Center does not require a subscription and TiVo.

To watch TV I really feel TiVo is superior. It is designed strictly for that and what does the job very well. Media Center as an adjunct to control your TV, music, photos, etc. on a computer simply can not win in that game. TiVo also does not have to worry about viruses and other computer hazards.
