Film Review: The Amazing Screw-On Head
Mike Mignola comic oddity was an odd choice to adapt to the animation, but its adaptation was the director and screenwriter Chris Prynoski Brian Fuller took on the task of special agent brings Mignola strange to Abraham Lincoln to life. The story is a mish mash of ideas that have see to believe, but Fuller does a better than average job in bringing a Mignola-shot comic to the screen. This is Mignola's help as it is, first as art director for ensure that the film emulates the black humor book style and tone.
Also joining the fun is Paul Giamatti as the voice of screw head of a secret agent Lincoln has the ability to change their bodies to adapt to any situation is in. It's much like Inspector Gadget, except that arbitrary and Screw-On is an agent much more competent, except when it comes to patience (voiced by Molly Shannon), his former girlfriend, who has become a vampire, thanks to the Emperor Zombie (voice of David Hyde Pierce). As I said, seeing is believing, but it's all worth it because the film (which was designed as a pilot for a series of potential) and is only 22 minutes long and will make you laugh from beginning to end.
There is a clever mix of action, humor, and adventure that few animated films of this type are always able to achieve, but I think this is because the film is very close to its source material and not speak to their audience. It's definitely an adventure I hope to come again soon.
