Am I too old for trendy gadgets?
I do not suffer from "technology phobia". I have a laptop, I can catch up on email with my Palm. I like to think of myself as one who can maintain the progress and the technical part. I had this discussion with a young colleague if the business old fashion cards as we know it today will remain popular in the future. So I went and not an investigation:
I found two articles I had three common problems:
1. They were both transactions with business cards and claimed that the conventional cards are "Passa ©"
2. Both were written by people who had something to do with China: One was a businessman who was working in China and the other was a Chinese woman. (You know what? She was also working in China)
3. Both authors suggested an alternative: Electronic Business Card.
Why say that business cards are "Passa ©"?
1. Once they start their collection, take a card from anyone who offers you one, will begin its portfolio of "flashing" until it can be expelled. So sit down and try to select "the men from the boys" and you are not able to decide which one to get rid of, because are sure that he will fire you will need tomorrow.
2. Business cards you are not just for those who push into your hand. Occasionally stretch his hand and take one. For example: He went to a restaurant where the dessert was given "in house". Never leave a place without having your business card. Want to tell you, your way, that one day, and probably will soon, they will return to his office every Matesa € | ..
3. Business cards are very small and the information that is written about her is very limited. Want to tell the world everything about yourself, your qualifications, credentials, their certificates, the company is working in his work and the situation there, and of course, how to contact you and the list of media and forms is very long, especially your e-mail address. From another point of view: he wants to know everything about the guy who gave him his business card, for example: your company is reliable and pays Timea € |.
4. If you use an album, to keep the business cards that are destined to fly the portfolio for peace, you probably already know that it is as if the family pictures that remain in all albums that never looked back. In most cases, we have completely forgotten.
5. The argument that business cards are available as nothing â € "we are returning to the first question: how many cards we carry with us everywhere all the time? And Hell: What?
6. The paper made business cards and are conducted in accordance with the crumpled form of the body that are sitting ona € | â € | sometimes get lost in the laundry € | .. to know.
So what is the accessory that will replace the conventional tedious business cards?
To answer this question we must answer to a previous logical one: Why we need first?
According to many articles, published websites and magazines on paper, this is the cheapest way to advertise and promote itself as an individual or as a business. In English speaking countries is called: Calling card business. They are scattered throughout in accordance with determination and firmness of your company and the distributor. People use them for many purposes, example: I take as an example â € "I use it to write memos € |. € Know You | ..
Anyway! What did the two "Chinese," suggested as replacements for paper cards?
The alternative mentioned was another electronic toy, another gadget to join all MP3 players, Palms, the disk on the keyboard, GPS, mobile phones became not only that but the camera phones, radio, E-mail, browsers, and soon microwaves to heat meals at work too. The electronic card containing information virtually unlimited. We will be able to carry all the details, about ourselves or our companies that we would like others to know us. But to do so we must have the means to connect with our personal computers, to accompany our cell phones, palms, disk on keys, and final list, but no other cards electronic business of our fellows. In this way we will be able to save on a small and portable accessory store all information on hundreds of business paper cards. How comfortable, how comfortable and wit!
Do we solve all our problems? Do we end all our problems? Of course not! We have just opened a new box of problems and difficulties. Because now we have to read another book of instructions, we have another expensive gadget to keep safe, unless lost or forgotten somewhere other electronic device to be charged or batteries to be replaced, another peace of sophisticated equipment to stay away from electromagnetic fields.
That's not the end of it: You probably want to see the information that goes into his business partner. Would you like to see what kind of information that is delivering to its information systems, right? So now you need a screen and keyboard. Well, what have we here, another team?
OK! There are no screens or keyboards. Well! This means that it goes in and out of a lot of information in the dark! It would not be able to control, in real time, quantity, the content and quality of information that are given away or get.
Let us assume that all the problems, difficulties and doubts are being resolved. We still have in our hands a device that must be thicker than 10 or 15 paper cards. Where did you collect? Perhaps in our portfolio? Impossible to think about it. Perhaps in our shirt pocket? Anyway we have a new trouble maker.
My conclusion â € "the good old printed Cards are here to stay. It is a great solution and if done right can be very effective because they are cheap and easy to make.
