The basic differences between Fish Finders and Chartplotters

A fish finder is an echo sounder (sonar) specifically designed to detect where they are fish in the water under and around the boat, in addition to measuring the total water depth. A fishfinder uses echolocation to reflect a narrow beam of sound frequency by a transducer. The sound waves are reflected in fish and other underwater features sound and converts this information into a graphic image on the screen, which is a HD color full screen or LCD unit. The image on the screen, which is fish with a small icon or as a series of arches allows you to identify appropriate targets and reduce their baits or lures to the correct depth. The screen on the fish finder showed that fish and you can see the difference between fish and bait will catch fish.

Chartplotters are a very useful navigation tool when you are on a fishing trip. It does not matter the size of the boat or where she is fishing. Chartplotters can create a plan for your route and provide accurate information about their location and what is ongoing. The display unit is usually mounted on the rudder the ship or it may be mounted by the controls and the antenna is mounted on the top of the boat. The position of the vessel is sent to the screen by GPS and plotter as translated by the latitude and longitude, which will be in a chart in the chart. The chart on the screen will be close to a paper chart and the depth demonstrate, the mass of the earth and navigation AIDS.

Chartplotters are generally easy to use depending on the make and model and can be easily plot your journey on the graph on the screen. Some models allow you to point to a destination and create the coordinates for you. Chartplotters use two different types of graphics – raster and vector to produce information. Vector charts once were preferred because they are small and sharp, crisp images, and can put more letters in the plotter, but the technology progressed and the difference between plot and vector graphics became insignificant.

The screen can either be LCD or color screen and this is very important. The screen size may be a few inches to a foot wide in diameter. The full-color screen displays the information and symbols more clearly and is preferable, but usually more expensive. Sometimes it is very bright in the plotter is mounted so readable under the light is very important and is a useful feature for searching. There are many different models of fish finders and chartplotters to choose and can benefit from any unit for a great day fishing.
